Hi lovely,
Summer isn't over yet, but it has already given me so much.
I thought I'd share a few of the moments, people, books, conversations and experiences that have stayed with me this summer. Perhaps one or two will resonate with you, too.
• Witnessing my son's Bar Mitzvah: as someone who isn’t Jewish, it was a privilege to experience such a beautiful tradition and to witness him stepping into this new chapter of his life. It was joyful, moving and something I won’t easily forget.
• Cliff diving in Jamaica and remembering that courage often arrives a split second after commitment. Feeling lucky to travel, experience new places and be reminded how much beauty there is to witness.
• Reading All About Love and dog-earing pages that I know I'll come back to again and again.
• Seeing as much live music as I possibly can. There is something about standing in a crowd, singing along with strangers, that reminds me of our shared humanity.
• Learning that grief can be held by the beauty of the natural world. The ocean, the trees and the quiet don't take grief away, but somehow they make it easier to carry.
• Listening to this beautiful conversation between Prentis Hemphill and Francis Weller that has stayed with me.
• Watching my doodle stop to smell the flowers and knowing he's onto something.
• Feeling so supported by the kindness I've received as I've stepped into a new season of my coaching business. Relaunching has been exciting, humbling and also a little uncomfortable. I'm learning that being seen can feel both exhilarating and vulnerable, and that sometimes the courage is simply choosing not to retreat.
• Returning to this quote by James Baldwin, especially as we just celebrated the birthday of the most Leo of Leos: "You have to go the way your blood beats. If you don't live the only life you have, you won't live some other life. You won't live any life at all."
Whatever this summer has held for you, I hope you've found moments of beauty, connection, curiosity and joy.
